1966-1972 Chevelle Bucket Seat Support Brackets (On Side of Seat), Pair
The 1966–1972 Chevelle Bucket Seat Support Brackets (On Side of Seat) are premium, recently tooled restoration components engineered to solve a common structural issue found on classic GM A-body bucket seats. While many builders are familiar with the large brackets that weld directly to the floor pan, these smaller, specialized side brackets mount directly onto the metal frame on the side of each individual bucket seat.
A direct-fit replacement pair—such as the newly released kit by Classic-parts—provides the critical underlying foundation needed to keep interior plastics tight and aligned.
Primary Function & Purpose
-
- Secures the Seat Skirts: The primary function of these brackets is to provide a rigid, seamless mounting anchor for the decorative lower plastic side panels (seat skirts).
- Restores Structural Integrity: Rather than letting your side panels hang loosely or rattle against the seat frame, these brackets restore a solid, factory-tight foundation.
- Replaces Damaged Hardware: Over decades of sliding in and out of the car, original factory stamped pieces often become bent, stripped out, or completely lost during past interior tear-downs.
Fitment & Ordering Notes
- Precision Tooled: These components are precision-tooled directly from original GM samples to ensure the correct mounting hole alignment, thickness, and authentic factory appearance.
- One Pair Required Per Seat: Note that these are sold as a pair (2 pieces), which provides enough brackets to complete one single bucket seat. If you are restoring both the driver and passenger sides, you will need to purchase two sets.
- Cross-Model Matching: Because GM utilized identical bucket seat frameworks across its A-body production lines during this era, these brackets will also correctly fit the El Camino, Pontiac GTO/LeMans, Oldsmobile Cutlass/442, and Buick Skylark.
