1964-1967 Chevelle Firewall Boot Retainer
The 1964–1967 Chevelle firewall boot retainer is a specialized stamped-steel metal ring designed for first-generation GM A-body vehicles equipped with a manual transmission. It acts as a clamping bezel that secures the rubber clutch pushrod dust boot tightly against the firewall interface (specifically over the manual transmission steering column plate).
Its primary purpose is to maintain a tight environmental seal where the mechanical linkage passes from the interior pedal box out into the engine bay.
- Material & Build: It features a factory-correct stamped steel construction engineered to OE dimensions, typically coated in a black or natural corrosion-resistant finish to withstand harsh engine bay conditions
Functionality: By sandwiching the outer lip of the rubber boot against the firewall block-off plate, it prevents engine fumes, moisture, road dust, and unwanted drafts from entering the passenger cabin. It also protects the rubber boot from flexing out of place during active clutch pedal engagement.
-
- Vehicle Application: Directly fits 1964, 1965, 1966, and 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle, Malibu, and El Camino models, as well as companion GM A-body cars like the Pontiac GTO/LeMans, Oldsmobile Cutlass, and Buick Skylark featuring small-block or big-block manual configurations.
