1968-1972 Chevelle or El Camino Front Lower Windshield Stop (ea)
1968-1972 Chevelle or El Camino Front Lower Windshield Stop (ea), is a direct-fit reproduction structural spacer designed to mount directly along the lower cowl panel lip at the base of the windshield dashboard area. These stops are sold individually (ea), and they act as the crucial physical staging stops that prevent your heavy front glass from slipping downward during structural adhesive cure cycles or road travel.
Whenever you are completely overhauling your front glass tray or replacing a rusted lower windshield cowl channel, it is best to mock up the windshield using these stops completely dry before applying any automotive urethane or ribbon bedding tape. If your lower metal tray has been heavily patched with fresh sheet metal, ensure these stops align perfectly level on both sides of the cowl dash rim first. If one stop sits even slightly twisted, your front glass will track crookedly, creating a localized high spot that can cause your windshield trim reveal moldings to pop loose or leak water. Clean away any grinding dust or scale beneath the clip base, snap it securely into the factory lower slot, and add a small bead of brushable seam sealer over the mounting tab to permanently isolate the inner cowl cavity from moisture tracks.
