1971-1972 Halo Headlights PR. (7 inch)
1971-1972 Halo Headlights PR. (7 inch), For the 1971–1972 Chevelle, a pair of 7-inch round halo headlights acts as a direct-fit replacement for the factory H6024 sealed beams. Unlike earlier or later Chevelles that utilize a four-headlight layout, the 1971 and 1972 model years are distinct for using a two-headlight setup with single 7-inch lamps on each side.
When buying a pair (PR.), you generally choose between a classic glass-lens look with an internal bulb or a modern projector-style LED conversion.
While the main high/low beam functions plug directly into your factory H4 headlight harness, the outer halo ring requires separate wiring. Classic car experts outline three main ways to wire them:
- As a Daytime Running Light (DRL): Wired to a 12V power source that is only hot when the ignition key is turned on.
- With the Parking Lights (Most Recommended): Spliced directly into the factory parking light circuit. The halos illuminate whenever you switch on your running lights or headlights.
- With the Headlights Only: Tied directly to the low-beam headlight wire. (Note: The halo ring will be less noticeable using this method because the primary headlight beam washes it out).
- Important Note: Do not wire a standard single-color halo directly to your turn signal circuits, or the ring will flash erratically with your blinkers. (Unless you buy “Switchback” halos engineered specifically to turn amber for signaling).
- Are you leaning toward a classic white halo that retains a period-correct feel, or are you looking for a color-changing RGB halo with a remote to stand out at car shows? Let me know, and I can pinpoint the exact kit and necessary adapters!
