1964-1972 Roofrail Weatherstrip Alignment Clips (pr)
The 1964–1972 Roofrail Weatherstrip Alignment Clips are specialized reproduction hardware fasteners designed to properly secure and position the roofrail weatherstripping on GM A-body vehicles. These clips are sold as a pair (pr), providing enough hardware for both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle. [1]
Product Detailed Description
- Function: These clips install directly onto or inside the metal roof rail weatherstrip channel. They act as structural guide anchors that prevent the rubber weatherstripping from shifting, collapsing, or slipping out of alignment when the side door glass rolls up against the roof rail. [1, 2]
- Installation Method: True to the original factory assembly process, these alignment clips are riveted directly onto the metal roof rail channel. Once riveted down, the rubber weatherstrip molding is pressed over or tucked tightly into them to maintain a uniform, leak-free seal. [1, 2]
- Materials: Typically constructed from durable stamped spring steel or die-formed steel to maintain high tension. High-quality reproductions usually feature a rubberized or plastic-coated dipped finish to prevent the sharp metal edges from cutting into your new rubber seals while offering corrosion resistance. [1, 2]
Vehicle Applications
These alignment clips are engineered exclusively for the first- and second-generation GM A-Body platform (specifically 2-door hardtop coupes and sport coupes) where the window glass seals directly against the roof line without a full metal door frame:
- Chevrolet: Chevelle (Malibu, SS), El Camino, Monte Carlo (1970–1972)
- Pontiac: GTO, LeMans, Tempest
- Oldsmobile: Cutlass, 442, F85
- Buick: Skylark, GS (Gran Sport)
