1966-1967 Door Glass Mounting Rubber (pr)
1966-1967 Door Glass Mounting Rubber (pr), often referred to in the industry as glass setting tape or sash channel filler, is a specialized reproduction cushioning kit. It is engineered explicitly to mount raw moving door glass securely into your lower horizontal steel sash window frame channels. Sourcing this fresh rubber pack eliminates window wobbling, glass vibrations, or hazardous slippage within the door cavity.
These items are sold as a matched pair (pr), providing enough material wrapped into one package to fully overhaul both the driver-side (LH) and passenger-side (RH) front doors simultaneously.
Mounting raw glass cleanly into replacement steel channel sashes requires a specific sequence to prevent binding. Clean the lower edge of your tempered glass with wax and grease remover. Fold the mounting rubber stripping tightly over the bottom lip of the glass, using clean masking tape temporarily on the outer face to hold the rubber steady.
Lubricate the inner track of your replacement metal channel with clean, soapy water only—never use petroleum-based lubricants, WD-40, or oily grease, as they permanently degrade the rubber compound and cause the glass to slide out of its mount later. Gently seat the track over the rubber-covered glass using a soft-faced rubber mallet until it bottoms out squarely. Trim away any protruding edge excess carefully using a razor or X-Acto knife before bolting the assembly onto your internal door regulator arms.
