1968 FRONT ANTENNA (ea), is a direct-fit reproduction designed to replace a broken, bent, or missing passenger-side factory radio antenna. These parts are sold individually (each) since vehicles only utilize a single primary antenna unit. Depending on your source, premium kits are available with a period-correct rigid solid mast or a semi-collapsible design.
- Anti-Strip Housing: Premium models incorporate an elongated base housing template. This design configuration allows you to safely torque down the top mounting bezel nut without stripping the internal alignment threads.
- Complete Assembly Breakdown: Standard replacement master packages typically ship as a complete kit. This includes the chrome antenna mast, the lower antenna body with an integrated 10-foot receiver lead cable, a protective mounting gasket, the base bezel, a ground adapter, and the specialized retaining base nut.
- Radio Options: Kits are primarily tailored for standard setups but can also be specified with dedicated AM-only masts for classic vehicles optioned without a factory AM/FM radio receiver.
Installation Tip
When feeding the new 10-foot antenna wire through the passenger-side fender cavity and into the passenger compartment, always make sure to seat the firewall wire grommet completely airtight. Leaving this grommet unseated or torn creates a direct path for engine heat, road moisture, and fumes to leak into the interior cabin floorboard. Additionally, hand-tighten the exterior chrome retaining bezel nut carefully during initial staging; overtightening with hard metal pliers can easily mar the fresh chrome plating .
